The official opening of a new plant for plasterboard of Knauf Bulgaria will take place in the village of Mednikarovo, near Galabovo, in Stara Zagora Region, on Thursday, June 17, 2010.
The size of the investment by Knauf, the German supplier of construction materials, amounts to EUR 53.9 million. The Knauf plant will utilise by-product gypsum
from the flue gas desulphurisation operations (REA gypsum) of nearby
power complex Maritsa Iztok, will produce 30 million sq. m of plasterboard
annually and will employ 100 workers.
Knauf operates in Bulgaria since 1997 when it acquired the Gipsofazer
plant in Vidin, North-western Bulgaria.

International Investment Bank Eyes Bulgaria The International Investment Bank, formed as an initiative of the Soviet Union in 1970, has started to actively invest in the countries of the former Eastern Bloc, including Bulgaria.

Bulgaria's Bulgargaz Offers Lower Gas Price for Q4 The Bulgarian state owned company "Bulgargaz" has offered a 1,36% decrease pf the price for natural gas for the fourth quarter of 2010.
The lower price for natural gas has been calculated after taking into account the quotation of alternative fuels on the Mediterranean markets, the average rate of the Bulgarian lev against the US dollar, the quantities of demanded natural gas by consumers and the recent additional negotiations with the Russian gas suppliers and the British oil and gas explorer Melrose Resources.
As a result, Bulgargaz has offered a gas price of BGN 535,10 for 1000 cubic metres, VAT excluded....
Bulgaria's Revenue Agency Vows 100% Tax Collection Bulgaria's National Revenue Agency will collect 100% of the taxes due to the state for 2010, which amount to about BGN 12 B, promised the agency director Krasimir Stefanov.
Speaking in the Parliament, Stefanov announced Thursday that in 2010 the National Revenue Agency has prevented frauds for more than BGN 1 B VAT included.

EU-funded scientists are probing the links between extreme weather events and changes in the carbon budget of the European landmass. The scientists are working in a 4-year project called CARBO-EXTREME ('The terrestrial carbon cycle under climate variability and extremes - a pan-European synthesis'), which received EUR 3.3 million of its EUR 4.6 million budget form the EU through the Environment Theme of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
